Declining Early Termination Fees, Test Drive and the Worry Free Guarantee Provide Unique Wireless Experience
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers switching to Verizon Wireless will enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience on the nation's most reliable wireless network. In addition to offering industry-leading products and services and world-class customer service, Verizon Wireless has a track record of leading the wireless industry by offering consumer-friendly policies based on customer needs.
More than a year ago, Verizon Wireless became the first and only major U.S. service provider to commit to a national policy of declining Early Termination Fees (ETFs). Since November of last year, a declining early termination fee is available to customers signing new contracts or renewing existing contracts with Verizon Wireless. Verizon Wireless' fee starts at $175 and is reduced $5 per month for each full month toward the contract's term that the customer completes.
At the same time, Verizon Wireless enhanced its industry-leading Worry Free Guarantee(R) to reward customers who register online with Verizon Wireless' My Account. My Account customers get free Back-Up Assistant to automatically store a copy of their phones' "contacts" lists over-the-air at a secure Web site, eliminating the need to re-program a new phone; eligibility every 12 months to purchase a new phone at its current promotional price with a new two-year renewal, and an online "Minute Check" alert that notifies them when they exceed their plan allowance and provides information about other calling plan options. The full Worry Free Guarantee can be viewed at www.verizonwireless.com/worryfreeguarantee.
In March 2007, Verizon Wireless introduced Test Drive, an industry first, which gives customers the opportunity to be their own test man or woman and experience the Verizon Wireless network virtually risk-free for 30 days. If at any point during the 30-day Test Drive customers are not satisfied with their experience and take their number to another wireless carrier, Verizon Wireless will refund their money for their calls, equipment, activation fee and taxes, as well as release them from their contract without an early termination fee when they return their phone within the Test Drive period.
Verizon Wireless has long been the consumer's champion, leading the fight to protect customer privacy and to prevent illegal telemarketing or spam that targets wireless users. Verizon Wireless parted with the industry by refusing to participate in a wireless directory when customers said they didn't want one, effectively halting that project. The company also broke from other wireless companies to support local number portability because customers wanted the freedom to take their numbers with them if they switched service providers.
