Novatel Wireless Provides Expanded Carrier Support for OEMs

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Novatel Wireless Inc., (Nasdaq:NVTL) a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced product enhancements that provide expanded carrier support for the next generation of platforms and applications in development by its tier-one OEM customers.

As part of today’s news, Novatel announced upgrades to its broad range of HSDPA and EV-DO Rev A embedded modules with advanced wireless functionalities including antennae diversity, advanced receiver technology, increased bandwidth and throughput performance up to 7.2 Mbps. Location-based GPS functionalities have also been enhanced to support the development of innovative OEM designs.

Included in the upgraded offerings is the Novatel Expedite E725 Express Mini Card Embedded Module, having recently been approved for deployment on three leading North American networks, including two tier-one carriers. With enhanced peak downlink data rates up to 3.1 Mbps and peak upload data rates of 1.8 Mbps, these dual-band modules operate on both EV-DO and CDMA networks to provide end users with the best throughput performance available.

For HSDPA networks, Novatel announced the continued improvement of its Expedite™ EU860D and EU870D PCI Express Mini Card Embedded Modules. Optimized for HSDPA and UTMS Networks in Europe and North America, these modules have been recently enhanced with a 4x increase in downlink data rates up to 7.2 Mbps. The EU8X0D products are GCF and PTCRB approved and have attained accreditation on several HSDPA networks across Europe and North America.
