BlackBerry Curve 5.0/5 bars, about 1 year ago
The Curve (Blackberry 8300) takes the best from the Pearl (rounded form factor, trackball, thinness), combines it with the best from the more traditional Blackberries like the 8700 (full keyboard, clear screen) and really makes this a super sleek device. There's also a great menu feature where you can pop up a small menu based on the context you're in, by clicking on the trackball (ie. highlight several e-mails to delete, click the trackball and only 4 menu items appear which are the most likely to be applied at that moment, or type an e-mail, click the trackball and the 4 most relevant functions at that point appear). If you need an option that's not on those menus, there's a "full menu" option or simply click on the menu button instead. There are several others including some that appear during phone mode. These are nice little time savers that I've really appreciated. Surprisingly, my Motorola 850 Bluetooth headset works much better with this device but I can't explain why. While I ended up ordering a holster, which no longer comes standard with the device, one doesn't really need this as The Curve fits very nicely in any pocket. It's size and weight can't be beat and in putting up next to an iPhone today, it's a smaller device. Not that I'm comparing the two per se, but for business users focused on e-mail, contact management, and scheduling, I don't think this device can be beat...at least not by anything I've seen on the market so far.
